Children need guidance and support, especially when it comes to dealing with academic, personal, parental and social pressures. Helping people reach their potential is the counsellors number one goal—and to achieve it you should be caring, flexible, adaptable and patient.
School counsellors assist students at all levels. They act as advocates for students’ well-being, and as valuable resources for their educational advancement. As a school counsellor, you’ll first and foremost listen to students’ concerns. Because everyone’s home and social life is different, you could be the only person who fulfills that need for them at a given time. Counsellor’s are also active and trained members of the school safeguarding team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with Counselling/Psychology or Bachelor's degree in Psychology/Counselling + (PGCE/PGDE) or a qualified teaching certificate
- First class interpersonal skills
- Minimum 2 years experience working in a school
- Active and positive personality
- Knowledge of the English National curriculum and/or Singapore curriculum is a bonus
- Thai Teaching licence is a bonus
- Must be fluent in the English language which is the common language used within the school
